Saskatoon Opera Facebook & YouTube Channel
This year, Home for the Holidays will look a little different. But we are still bringing you some of the most amazing singers who will be back home or are already home for the holiday season. Due to COVID-19 restrictions this event will be pre-filmed in the beautiful acoustics of Saint John’s Cathedral. The pianists and singers will each be 4 metres away from each other, and a full HVAC system in place to keep everyone safe.
You aren’t able to be there in person, but you can watch from the comfort of your home! Gather your bubble around and enjoy the evening. The concert will be streamed for free, however if you are able to make a donation please do so online at: http://www.saskatoonopera.
A link for the concert video will be sent out on December 29th no later than 7pm.
This link will be to a YouTube video, but if you follow us on Facebook, you can also watch there.
Don’t worry if you miss watching the concert on the 29th, it will be available to watch for the next few months! This concert features singers: Jayden Burrows, Kieran Foss, Olivia Guselle, Kateryna Khartova, Spencer McKnight, Chelsea Mahan, Kelsey Ronn, and Amanda Smith; and pianists: Kathy Lohrenz Gable, Karen Reynaud, Mark Turner, and Naomi Suchan.
Needing a jolt of holiday cheer in the lull between Christmas and the New Year?
Home for the Holidays is a benefit concert for Saskatoon Opera – we’re gathering together some of the city’s best voices from near and far for a night of beautiful music.
Saskatoon is home to more than its fair share of incredibly talented opera singers – we’re fortunate that during the holidays we can bring together these singers in a single night to celebrate and make merry. Many of our fine young singers who are home for the holidays are getting involved in the evening and are excited to lend their voice to a great cause.
Part of Saskatoon Opera’s mandate is to support our local emerging artists. This fundraiser gives us a great chance to showcase some of the great talent that we have from this fine city! Many of these singers had their first onstage experience singing in the chorus of a Saskatoon Opera production – this concert nurtures both the work of Saskatoon Opera and the relationships with these great talents.
